When it comes to decide about the pool filters it becomes a difficult decision. There are many options in the pool filters which make it confused to decide that which one is better among various pool filters. There are few things which need to be considered when deciding about the pool filters. The first and foremost thing is to have a properly maintained filter which has a proper system available with it than whether its Sand, Cartridge, or Diatomaceous Earth (DE) it will not make any difference. The following description would help you to decide among these pool filters.

Sand Filters

It is called a bullet proof filter because it allows the water to get pushed through a pass through filter sand and after that water is allowed to get removed through a set of creative tubes at the bottom. The area of the sand filter is equal to the area of the filter itself. Moreover a 24” filter would be having 3.14 sq ft of filter area. And the area which is used to filter the water is about 1” of sand which is actually the top area of the sand. In this way water is pushed behind through the sand filter like a machine which separates the dirty and clean water, allowing the dirty water to go on the top whereas, clean water exits out of the bottom.

Cartridge Filters

It is an economic law maintenance filter and its system is much simpler than others which make it easy to understand. It is similar to the filters used at home for water purification, in this type of filter water passes through the filter allowing the debris to stay in the filter. Cartridge filters have more area than the sand filters. For instance, 100 sq ft and the majority of the cartridge filters sold are larger than 300 sq ft. So they don’t bung up as speedily and consequently you handle them normally. There are two types of cartridge filters in general.

DE Filters

It is known as the water polisher. In this filter tiny diatoms are used to coat grids in the filter housing and they act as tiny sieves to remove debris from the water. These filters are very small as compared to the others. It is much similar to the sand filter in a way that as soon as the pressure rises, the filter is backwashed as in the sand filter and then it is recharged with more DE powder. Mostly the area size of these filters starts from 60 sq ft to 70 sq ft.
