A Ghillie suit is an exceptional piece of camouflage. When used properly, a person can be stand within a couple of feet from you and they won’t even know you are there. By all means the ghillie suit is the best when it comes to personal camoflage. The ghillie suit has a long history. The ghillie suit originated in Scotland during the 1800's for use by land owners against poachers. It is currently used by British, Canadien, and U.S. snipers. A ghillie suit is constructed of a base garment, such as ordinary BDU's or mechanics coveralls, to which a netting is attached and pieces of burlap and fabric resembling natural colors are tied in. This breaks up the users outline and helps him blend in.

Ghillie suits are used most professionally by military and police snipers. Because the human form is unnatural to jungle, woodland, or desert environments, snipers wear their ghillie suits to break up the outline of themselves and their gear. Wearing the proper ghillie suit, a stealthy sniper is able to stalk right past a sentry or lie quietly waiting to ambush his approaching target.

Today, ghillie suits are commonly used for hunting and scenario games such as paintball and airsoft.
